QUICK SALUTATIONS IN FRENCH / SALUTATIONS RAPIDES EN FRANÇAIS

Hello everyone! :) Welcome in a new French lesson!
When you meet someone, there are a few basic ways to say « Hello » and « How are you ? », depending if you are speaking to a stranger or someone you know. Remember, it exists two forms in French to address to someone: Tu and Vous or respectively called “Le tutoiement” and “Le vouvoiement”. Let’s see this below:

VOUVOIEMENT (using “Vous” / Polite form / Formal / Older persons / Strangers)

Bonjour / Hello

Comment allez-vous ? / How are you?
or
Vous allez bien ? / Are you doing well?

Au revoir / Goodbye

Passez une bonne journée ! / Have a nice day!

Passez une bonne soirée ! / Have a nice evening!

Passez un bon après-midi ! / Have a nice afternoon!

TUTOIEMENT (using ‘‘Tu’’ / Polite form / Informal / Friends / Family / Parents / People you know well)

Bonjour / Hello

Salut ! / Hi!

Comment ça va ? / How are you?/Are you doing well?
Comment tu vas?    3 ways to say it, three correct ways,
Comment vas-tu ?   you choose which one is better for you!

Au revoir / Goodbye

Bye ! / Bye!   English word commonly used in French too!

À plus ! / See you!

Passe une bonne journée / Have a good day

Passe une bonne soirée / Have a good evening

Passe un bon après-midi / Have a good afternoon

I hope this quick lesson will be helpful for you! Always remember: it's easy, just try to adapt the form to the person/situation with formal/informal!
